Did it ever hit you to do simple mathematics and calculate the time you spend applying for a single
job using a resume or via LinkedIn? It indeed is one of the un-nerving experiences for anyone to apply
for a job, from tailoring your resume to match the job requirements to drafting an impressive cover
letter and filling the long applications. It all takes a considerable amount of time which can be
utilized in something more productive.
REREAD. Resumes are no longer the sole determinant as to whether you, as a candidate, are going
forward to the next hiring step. It is high time for the candidates to understand what limitations
does the professional platform (LinkedIn) of nearly 8 million members, including applicants and
professionals, holds.
CVs are no longer relevant in the job market which is all about the new technology screening software,
applications, and websites. Traditional CVs have numerous flaws when it comes to the assessment of an
individual.
-
1. Traditional CV does not provide a clear sense of the applicant's personality.
2. It does not give an insight into whether the candidate is the best cultural fit for the job role.
3. CVs are more often copied, exaggerated, and unverified. Also, the stories on a CV are either half-truth or untrue.
4. There is this new trend of outsourcing resume building which makes the information less reliable.
5. CVs are usually organized by job titles likes "success ambassador'' which makes the real job-related skill difficult to understand.
6. “Resumes slow the process down, and we have unemployed people who still can’t find jobs.” Miklusak
Although online presence, particularly social networking skyrocketed and millions of people are using LinkedIn but it only connects you to the people and builds your social connections. It does not adequately help to hire bodies to capture your skills and knowledge. One of the biggest drawbacks of LinkedIn is, given a large number of people, you might not get noticed by the potential employer. LinkedIn has become the place for networking and not for skill-based job hiring. Time has changed. The Present and future belong to the skill-based recruitment process. In one of the articles that Forbes published in 2011 titled "5 Reasons Why Your Online Presence Will Replace Your Resume in 10 Years'' the writer argued that in the next 10 years or so, recruiters will use online platforms like LinkedIn to find candidates. On this day, the year 2021 most of the hiring bodies prefer to use online platforms to search for talent and new hires. Now, it is safe to assume that in less than 10 years 90% of the recruiters will rely upon AI & technology-based recruitment software.
